Is The NBN The  Best?

As I sit on a train heading home after a long day at my job, I find 2 people behind me discussing a range of different topics. One of the topics turned out to be on the NBN and if it is a good or bad thing. I am truly shocked and saddened at how un-educated the majority of Australia is when it comes to the NBN, Fibre, Out Back Australia and why the hell we are even doing this!

There seems to be public opinion that the NBN is been installed to suit the needs of the inner city and western suburb citizens. People are so easy to forget that people in out back Australia have no access to real communication, ADSL is rare and 56k modems will never do the job.

So that’s points (1) – The NBN is for out back Australia. With out this, they will cease to exists.

Anther issue I have is that people reference porn and movie downloads to the NBN. While yes, there is no denying that these services will become much faster and work far more efficiently, a true use of the NBN will be for long distance education. The amount of bandwidth that is required for a 780p HD Video is ridiculous, and you CAN NOT do it with a ADSL2 connection.

So that’s points (2) – The NBN will have great uses. Education, Medicine, Personal

So many people also seem to be forgotten how fast our technology changes. While Australians may not understand or realize where technology is headed, the simple fact is that most of our electrical applicances are going to be connected to the internet to work in some way. With out a sustainable amount of bandwidth, these products will either not work well or not work at all.

So thats point (3). Our world requires this updates, fast internet.
